We have chosen to fund raise for the homeless

Describe the issue that you have chosen
Raising money for the homeless so we can buy food so they dont starve, Blankets so they aren't cold at night and water so they stay hydrated 



The big picture
We are gonna to ask a business to help us with our project 



Desired impact
We want the homeless to feel like they are cared about and are not worthless fundraising would be the perfect thing for them it will make them think that we do care and want to help

Social studies, Term 3, Week 7

Fact 1: In 1492 Christopher Columbus went to go to Spain

 Fact 2: But ended up in America and thought he was in India so he named the Native people of America Indians 

Fact 2: America became a colony of Britain


Fact 3: The mid-west and west coast remained Indian land 

Fact 4: Vikings were the first people to discover America

Fact 5: The frontier 


Push factors
- To get away from the law
- struggling to sell farm produce
-Embarrassment to parents
- Orphaned kids who are desperate to go to the west 
- Could not afford the mortgages
- East is becoming far to crowded 
- Unhappy love affair 
- Fighting the Indians 



Pull Factors:

-Wants to find Husband 
- Want Freedom 
- Wants to be a fur trapper  
-  Better Jobs
- Wants to get rich quickly 
 - Finding gold
- Have own farm 
- Wants an Adventure 


Obstacles

- Attacked by Indians 
- Huge travelling distance 
- Droughts
- attack by bandits or rustlers 




Flow backs:

- No schools
- No doctors
- Rodents inside house 
- Snow rain and dust coming into homes

Statement: Americans travel from east to west 

Explanation: I wouldn't move because there are no schools or doctors which means you cant have good health or a good education

Example: Americans travelled to east and west to find gold


Link: Moving to the west is to difficult so i wouldn't do it

  1. What word should have been used instead of sovereignty/governorship? Control



  1. What does Tino Rangatinotanga mean? It means absolute sovereignty



  1. What happened when a chief didn’t sign the Treaty? They would go to the people and ask them  



  1. What is pepper potting? What was its aim? To separate Maori so their culture and language would be forgotten



9. What is the Native School Acts? What was its aim? To stop Maori been spoken in schools

Conditions in England

. Cheaply built houses
. If you were fired you would get kicked out also if your husband dies the wife will get kicked out
. Share with other families
. No garden or space outside for kids to play in
. No running water and toilets were emptied by people as a job
. Diseases that spread really quickly
. Kids didn't go to school and were underfed
. lots of children who were working


Push factors from England
. Took away some peoples right to vote
. Only rich got education
. Society was divided into classes
. A mans place in society was based on how much he owned
. Working class children were employed at jobs like chimney sweeping and pulling coal trucks underground
Over 200 crimes were punished by death

Government
Parliament made laws for everyone and woman had no political power 

Education
Only rich had education
Kids would only get taught about factories 

Society
Men were divided in classes depending on how much money he has
Competition for money and power

Migration

What is Migration?
To me migration means animals or humans moving from one region to another

Why do people Migrate?
There are many reasons why people migrate but i think it's mostly because of wars, Politics and the environment.

  3. Daniel emigrated to Australia to find work - No
  4. There was a great emigration of Europeans to New Zealand during the 20th century- No

  6. Many young New Zealanders immigrate to Australia for higher wages - yes
    • Migration: To move from one place and settle in another.
    • Emigration: Leaving your home to move elsewhere
    • Immigration: Arriving in a new place to live
    • Push Factors are factors that encourage emigration from a place.
    • Pull Factors are factors that encourage immigration to a place.
    • Counter-stream: things that make people want to return home after they have migrated
    Chain migration: where a small number of people make the first moves to set up a new home in a new place. They send information back home, and this encourages further migration

What are the consequences of migration?

What factors might cause a counter stream to migration?

. Europeans coming to New Zealand . Dutch going to south Africa


What do migration and a lolly shop have in common?
They both have push and pull factors but with lollies the flavours push you away or pull you in which is the same as migration because the countries you move to could also push you away or pull you in.
